Winter Electrical Safety Tips - Electric Blankets

Extreme winter days call for additional heat sources beyond your hot water, propane, or fuel oil heat blowing through your structure. Some may pull out the electric blankets to provide additional heat, but did you know they are safety hazards. Here are a few tips for using electric blankets this winter...

1. Never fall asleep with your heated blanket on!

2. Make sure the cords and plugs in the blanket are in prime condition with no cuts or cracks causing an escape route for sparks!

3. Never cover your heated blanket with another blanket! Additional blankets can act as kindling during a dangerous situation.
